Someone mentioned, ‘Have you noticed that these cups are not for getting drunk, but for sipping your favourite drink after a hard day, to relax, to feel good, to fill yourself with positive thoughts? They do not lead to getting drunk, but to a calm evening in which you release tension and relax.’

First said, ‘Let's assume that drinking whiskey is not a regular thing, but rather something special. The cup is the accessory that completes the setting and pleases my eye. I imagine that the end of the week is coming and I want to treat myself to a special, expensive, aged whiskey in my cup to celebrate the successful working week. Moreover, the dish is designed and made so that the whiskey can unfold its aroma inside and see the reflections of the drink on the walls of the cup. I prefer the additional material to be silver because I want to see the natural colour of my whiskey.’ Fifth chimed in, ‘I prefer gold because the reflections and the play of lights is something that enchants me.’

Third mentioned, ‘I have noticed that wooden whiskey cups are in high demand as gifts. Clients who know the recipients well have no trouble choosing the colour, the type of wood and the noble metal to go with this.

Those who hesitate, prefer to trust our advice. And they particularly like the addition of a plaque with a personal message.’

‘And what about the big set?’ asked Fifth.

‘When we put everything in it - two whiskey cups, a cigar ashtray, a cigar holder and a bottle of whiskey - the box becomes heavy and makes a really rich gift. The set can only be cups with an ashtray or cups with a whiskey bottle. These last are quite popular and make a strong impression. Undoubtedly, this is a nice and luxurious gift,’ explained Third.

Fifth asked, ‘And what about the various treatment of the wood?’

‘Wood only matters as much as you relate to it,’ explained Third. ‘There are people who don’t care what it is, but rather how it looks, its colour and finish, how its touch feels to the skin, whether it is smooth and gentle or rough. Others are excited by its appearance. Some like dark, heavy and rough cups, others – bright, light and velvety ones. As we mentioned a little while ago, it depends on our own mood what kind of wood we prefer at that moment.’

‘The processing of each type of wood is different,’ interjected Second, ‘because they have a specific structure, filler, density, and the veins are differently located. When processed and especially after sanding the maple, it has a pearly effect, as if it were mother-of-pearl, smooth and white. The treatment of wenge is the opposite; the look is dull, rough, as if it were solidified fossil vegetation. It creates a very dusty environment which makes it even more difficult to work with. The walnut has its own specific smell. The cherry smells like cinnamon, and the oak has an amber shade, refracting the light like mother-of-pearl.’

‘I know every type of wood that has passed through my hands, I will recognise every cup I’ve made,’ said First. ‘I see clearly all the effects of wood, I see the harder places that are rounded like river stones, the softer ones remain deep like gorges. I process the wood and pictures and plots pop up in my head, my thoughts build up to poetry. It is an energy that acts with its power. Every contact with the senses – sight, smell, touch makes my relationship with the wood closer.’

In conclusion, the preference of the colours and the wood from which the cups are made depends on our current mood. Just like listening to music or our desire to go out and meet friends or stay at home with our favourite drink depends on our current state of mind. When we are happy, we choose the light tones - the white or blue cup. If we are in a reflective mood, then the walnut cup would be more suitable. If we feel victorious that day, maybe red or black will be the best, and when we are looking for inspiration, maybe oak will deliver the needed emotion best.

It is interesting and remarkable how much history and how many artifacts there are in a territory as small as Bulgaria. During each excavation, archaeologists find a piece of the life of our ancestors. We are a nation with a rich past, and that is priceless. All these discoveries made by archaeologists are changing scientists' perceptions of the oldest centers of human civilization. The historical artifacts prove that a civilization flourished on the territory of Bulgaria long before the Hellenic one. A culture existed which created items of high artistic value.
